In semifinal classic, Boessen's blow lifts Lady Falcons to 2-1 win

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. --- This thrilling ride just produced some more stomach-churning butterflies for the folks in Green.

A lot more.

Oh my, what a feeling --- butterflies have never felt so good.

In an instant classic, Brooke Boosen's RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday lifted the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons to a 2-1 win over the Lathrop Lady Mules in the Class 2 semifinals at the Killian Complex.

The thrill of victory, indeed.

"It was an intense, pressure-filled game that took every bit of composure we had to get through it," said Blair Oaks coach Sharon Buschjost, whose team will meet Bowling Green (25-4) for the state title at 10 a.m. Saturday. "We were able to get through it ... and we came out with a win.

"We live to play another day."

Boessen's blow gave Blair Oaks its first lead iof the day n this tightly-contested battle between two good teams and two great pitchers --- pitchers who were a combined 44-1 entering the day.
