Hickman High School names Cedric Alvis head football coach
Once a Kewpie, always a Kewpie.
Cedric Alvis has been named the new head coach of Hickman High School's football program.
Alvis graduated from Hickman in 2005 where he was an athlete in the program. On the football field, he was a three-time All-District selection. He was also a two-time All-State selection including his senior season when he helped lead the Kewpies to a state title, according to a Hickman High news release.
After attending Missouri State University, Alvis returned to Columbia where he served as a volunteer coach at Rock Bridge before joining Hickman's coaching staff in 2011. At Hickman, he coached defensive backs and wide receivers under the leadership of Arnel Monroe. Alvis continued his coaching career at Battle High School as the defensive coordinator where the team won the 2014 State Championship.
There will be a meet and greet for Alvis Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6:15 p.m. to welcome the coach.
