Kyle Lasley was named the head baseball coach for Jefferson City High School Wednesday.

Lasley has worked at the high school as a physical education teacher and has coached softball, basketball, and baseball. Most recently Lasley worked as the junior varsity and assistant varsity baseball coach since 2013.

The district said Lasley will continue to serve as assistant softball coach.

“Kyle Lasley has been on our baseball coaching staff for many years and served as the Hitting and Outfield Coach for our 2017 State Championship team. Elevating him to this position will help ensure consistency, continuity, and a smooth transition from a formula that was already working,” Jefferson City Public Schools Athletic Director Ehren Earleywine said.

Earleywine said he expects Lasley to bring success to the Jay's baseball program.

“Maximizing potential and winning titles is the expectation for all our teams. This position will be no different. We hope this is the beginning of a long and successful run for Kyle and our baseball program," Earleywine said.

Lasley said he wants to continue to move the program forward.

“My goal is to keep the momentum of the program moving forward by continuing the success and tradition of Jay baseball while keeping our focus on teamwork, preparation, work ethic, and coachability," Lasley said.

Earleywine said Lasley is respected by his fellow coaches.

"To his credit, Kyle came highly recommended by all of those formerly on staff with him. There is no greater compliment than that. It's his time to lead," Earleywine added.
