Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City in need of "Bigs"

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City is in need of "Bigs"

January is National Mentoring Month, and The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City is in need of volunteers.

Program Director Lee Knerschield said there are "littles" who are waiting for someone to volunteer to be their "big" brother or sister, “Just an hour or two a week is all it takes to make a hug impact in a child’s life,” she said.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City is a nationally accredited, not for profit agency which has been providing services to the youth of Cole County since 1989. Big Brothers Big Sisters facilitates matches between adult mentors (Bigs) with children (Littles) age 6-17 who need additional support, guidance and encouragement.

Currently, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City serves over 250 children a year and has over 120 active matches, but there are many kids still waiting for a Big Brother or a Big Sister. Click here to learn more about becoming a part of the organization.
