Wed, 01 Oct 2014 22:07:48 GMT — If youâ??re looking for some extra cash, why not try your luck with black walnuts?
October is National Black Walnut Month and one local company is paying anyone who wants to gather and sell them.
Brian Hammons is a third generation owner of Hammons Products Company.
Hammons buys wild black walnuts at nearly 200 buying stations throughout Missouri.
Hammons is paying $14 for every 100 pounds of black walnuts after the hulls are taken off.
Thatâ??s a dollar more than last year.
Hammons said, â??I think a lot of folks are going to go out there and pick up a lot of black walnuts. Enjoy the fall weather. Itâ??s wonderful time with family and friends. Itâ??s creating great memories and picking up a lot of cash.â??
Hammons has buying stations in Fayette, Tuscumbia, Owensville and several other locations throughout Mid-Missouri.
