
MARIES COUNTY., Mo. — A woman stopped a would-be burglar at gunpoint after the person allegedly broke into her uncle's home.
According to Maries County Sheriff's Facebook page, deputies went to the home on Highway 68 near St. James for a report of a burglary in progress.
The owner of the home is a veteran and is currently in the veteran's hospital.
The owner's niece went by his home to make sure everything was ok and that's when she found someone trying to break in the back window, according to the Facebook post.
The niece, who is a CCW holder, drew her firearm and held the person at gun point.
She had to let the person go in order to call 911.
Deputies eventually got there but the suspect was already gone.
Investigators are currently following up on leads, but no arrest has been made.
