Woman pronounced dead in Tuesday evening Miller County fire
MILLER COUNTY —
One person is dead after being discovered Tuesday night in the remains of a burnt-out farmhouse near Mary's Home in Miller County.
According to Cole County Fire Protection District Spokesperson Steve Cearlock, firefighters were called at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday to a structure fire at 576 Old Ten Mile Road. Upon arrival, the house was fully engulfed.
Although firefighters were informed that there may have been a person inside the house, they could not approach due to the intensity of the heat. A female was later found in a back bedroom.
Firefighters remained on scene until 11:30 p.m.
Wednesday morning, they received another call of an explosion and fire at the same location. When they arrived the second time, the structure was totally involved in flames and burnt to the ground.
The State Fire Marshal is investigating.
