UM System President Mun Choi mounts defense against NCAA sanctions
University of Missouri System President Dr. Mun Choi said Thursday he was mounting a vigorous defense against NCAA sanctions. Choi made his comments during the University of Missouri Board of Curators meeting.
The NCAA released a statement last Thursday morning stating a former Mizzou tutor violated ethical conduct, academic misconduct and extra benefit rules when she completed work for 12 student-athletes. The University of Missouri football, baseball and softball programs have been banned from postseason play for their next upcoming season. Choi said the penalties were unfair.
“We were truthful. We acted with integrity," Choi said. "We were accountable, yet the outcomes were completely unfair.”
University of Missouri System Curators also took the first step in changing their retirement plan for University employees. The new plan called for replacing some pension plans with investment plans that were easier to transfer from job to job.
