Two men hospitalized with gun shot wounds related to Columbia shots fired incident

A news release from the Columbia Police Department connected two men with gunshot wound injuries at different hospitals to a Wednesday night shots fired call.

Columbia Police officers responded to a shots fired call Wednesday night at 10:33 p.m. in the 100 block of Redwood Road.

The release said officers found evidence of a "shooting and large amounts of blood in the grass at a residence."

The release said shortly after officers arrived at the scene, two different hospitals notified Boone County Joint Communications that a 27-year-old man and a 47-year-old man arrived with gunshot wounds. The investigation indicated both men are related to the incident. One of the men suffered life-threatening injuries and the status of the second is unknown.

There are no suspect in custody and Crime Scene Technicians are processing evidence related to this case. It is not believed that the community is at risk.
