Tour celebrates first phase of new medical plaza
Boone Hospital Center administrators are one step closer to opening their new Nifong Medical Plaza.
Dozens of people gathered at the corner of Columbia's Nifong Boulevard and Forum Road to tour the completion of the first phase of the 86,000 square foot facility.
The first phase includes space for convenient care, family practice and a pharmacy on the main level.
The medical plaza will become Boone Hospital Center's second campus.
Administrators said the new facility will help with the demand for health care on the south side of Columbia.
Boone Hospital Center President Jim Sinek said, "We reach out to 28 counties. Those folks who live south and west of here have an opportunity to have a little bit more convenience. They can drive right up to the facility and walk in and have their services done and get out in a very convenient way."
Hospital administrators expect to open their new Nifong Medical Plaza sometime in January.
