Thursday Night Live location change due to collapsed wall
JEFFERSON CITY —
Due to the continued closing of the corner of Madison and High streets, Thursday's event has been relocated.
Thursday Night Live will be at the corner of Monroe and High Streets. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and entry points will remain the same.
Concert-goers are urged to avoid the previous location on the 300 block of Madison.
A building wall collapsed June 7, causing the closure of the area and forcing the event to be canceled. Bricks continued to fall from the building of the law firm over the weekend.
Building Official Larry Burkhardt said the exterior of the building now seems secure. Workers installed bracing last Friday and Monday to keep the wall from further collapsing, focusing on the building's week points. Burkhardt said bricks may continue to fall.
The building official added the scene is now being treated as a construction site.
He hopes to open two-way traffic on Madison Street soon. For now, the barrier around the area remains to keep pedestrians safe.
Jefferson City law enforcement said emergency officials will be at Thursday Night Live talking with attendees about safety measures.
