Suspect in custody in Miller County homicide, 18-year-old victim identified

    One suspect is in custody in Miller County after he admitted to killing a man at his home near Tuscumbia Monday.

    Forty-one-year-old Larry Micah Matthews was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of Dalton Cain Bishop, an 18-year-old from Barnett.

    According to court documents, deputies with the Miller County Sheriff's Department were called to Matthews' home in the 2100 block of Highway 52 near Tuscumbia just before 6 p.m. for a report of an alleged shooting. Upon arrival, they found Bishop outside the residence with a shotgun wound to the upper left chest.

    Matthews was inside the residence and subsequently admitted to shooting the victim with a shotgun outside the residence. A search warrant was obtained and the shotgun seized. Bishop's body was transported to the Boone County Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.
