The disappearance of a school reptile constricted school operations Friday at a St. Louis-area high school.

According to CBS affiliate KMOV-TV, Brentwood High School administrators discovered a 9-foot long boa had gone missing from the science department.

The school dismissed students just before 1 p.m.

The snake was located under floorboards in a science lab about one hour later in the area around its tank.

It was unclear how the snake got free or where it went after it escaped.

The high school stated it would resume classes Monday.
