Shooting suspects taken into custody

Authorities said Saturday three suspects in connection with a shooting death in Mexico were taken into custody.

According to a news release sent out by the Mexico Public Safety Department, at 1:40 p.m. Saturday the two 15-year-old suspects and one 17-year-old suspect were taken into custody and processed at the department.

Authorities said 17-year-old Dekhise Dorsey was taken to the Audrain County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

The 12th Circuit Court Juvenile Division took both 15-year-old suspects to detention centers on suspicion of similar charges.

The victim in the shooting was identified as 27-year-old Tajuan Williams.

According to the department, at about 5:30 p.m. officers were called to the 500 block of Muldrow regarding a person who had been shot.

They said they found Williams had been involved in an altercation and been shot one time. Williams was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital-Audrain where he later died.
