The Camden County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tammy M. Larrabee, 54, who was shot in the Feb. 21, Edwards shooting, died in the hospital on the afternoon of Friday, Feb. 24.
Larabee is the second victim to die after Eric L. Cantrell, 56, died at the scene of the shooting.
The shooter, Alexander O. Cantrell-King, 19, is still being held in the Camden County Adult Detention Facility without bond. He is charged with one count of the Class A Felony of Murder in the 1st Degree, one count of the Class A Felony of Domestic Assault in the 1st degree and two counts of the unclassified Felony Armed Criminal Action.
On Saturday, Feb. 21, at around 11 p.m., Camden County Communications got a call about a disturbance. The person who called 911 could be heard saying “put the gun down Alex, put the gun down.” Fighting sounds were also heard on the phone before the call disconnected.
Communications officers were able to track where the call came from, and deputies and medical personnel were dispatched to State Road FF and Pine Cove Road in Edwards.
They found Cantrell shot and lying on the living room floor of a camper. He was unable to be revived and was pronounced dead. Larrabee was also found with a gunshot wound in the camper and was taken to an area hospital by a helicopter.
Cantrell-King, who is a family member of both of the victims, claimed he heard a gunshot go off in the camper. He said he went to investigate and saw Larrabee holding a 30-30 rifle and Cantrell lying on the floor. He also said that while he wrestled the gun away from Larrabee, it accidentally went off and shot her.
As she was being transported, she identified Cantrell-King as the shooter, and evidence at the scene supported this and disproved Cantrell-King's version of events.
Cantrell-King was arrested and taken to the Camden County Adult Detention Facility. He will appear before the Camden County Associate Court in late March.
