The newest Columbia elementary school facility will have additional security.

The Columbia Board of Education approved an agreement with Ultimate Security Window Armor to install window film on multiple doors and windows at Cedar Ridge Elementary School.

John White, the director of security for the Columbia School District, said in a KRCG 13 special report the relatively new window sheetings are to designed keep shattered glass contained inside the window frame. The goal is to prevent entry through a window by an attacker.

These window sheetings, which do not make a window bulletproof, are designed in Apache Flats.

The total cost of the agreement was listed at $22,191.
