For the 12th annual Roots N Blues N BBQ festival, a new tradition is starting - a musical hall of fame.

Announced exclusively to KRCG 13 on Wednesday, the hall of fame will honor Missouri musicians who have impacted both the Show-Me state and the nation.

The hall of fame will be called the “Missouri Roots Songbook” and will honor Chuck Berry for its first year, festival Director Tracy Lane said in an interview.

The honoree was picked by Thumper Entertainment, the festival organizer, and musicians qualify if they had spent majority of their lifetime in Missouri, Lane said.

Berry's family will accept this honor from stage on Sunday evening, directly before Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats take the stage, a press release stated.

This year’s festival is Sept. 28–30 with three days of music, food, and tent vendors.

Tickets are available online at rootsnbluesnbbq.com.
