JEFFERSON CITY — Pro-Life supporters rallied and marched to the Missouri State Capitol Building Saturday morning.
Once in the Capitol Building, marchers heard from a licensed OB/GYN, Dr. Vansen Wong. Wong used to perform abortions, but stopped after a personal encounter.
One organization present at the rally was the National Life Runners Team. The running team wears, "Protect the Unborn" shirts as they compete in races across the country as a way to spread their message.
The founder and president said the amount of abortions in America everyday is equivalent to loss of life on September 11.
"We have a September 11th loss of American life everyday in the womb. We want to remember that from the standpoint of memorializing all those children who have lost their lives, but also to remember their mothers, fathers, and families that are scared of wondering if they can parent," Life Runners Founder, Pat Castle said.
The National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws Pro-Choice Missouri responded to the march and rally in a statement:
"As the Pew survey in December showed, 7 in 10 Americans do not want Roe v. Wade to be overturned. Instead of obsessing about outlawing abortion in our state, the Missouri legislature and these anti-choice marchers should do more to help children in families, like passing medicaid expansion or paid family leave. This march was not about being pro-life, it was about being pro-birth."
