With close numbers and different polling data, many are closely watching how the Missouri Senate race will play out.
The latest polling data from SurveyUSA, Emerson College, and the Trafalgar Group each puts current Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt in the lead in the GOP race.
However, polling data differs when it comes to who could come in second and at how close of a percentage.
SurveryUSA puts Schmitt in the lead with 28% of votes, eight percentage points ahead of Eric Greitens who, by SurveyUSA polls, has 20% of votes. Their poll puts Vicky Hartzler trailing the two, only gaining only 13% of votes. Billy Long falls dead last with 8% of votes.
Emerson College has Schmitt leading the polls by a longer stretch with 33% of votes and Hartzler coming behind him with 21% of votes. In the Emerson College poll, Greitens takes third with only 16% of votes.
The only similarity between Emerson College and SurveryUSA’s polls is Long gaining the least number of votes between the four candidates, with only 5% of votes according to Emerson College polls.
Similar to Emerson College and SurveyUSA, the Trafalgar Group has Schmitt leading the polls, but not by much.
Their polls show Schmitt with 26.5% of votes, Hartzler with 24.4% of votes, and Greitens with 20.2% of votes. The Trafalgar Group also shows Long in last out of the four, receiving only 6% of votes.
KRCG 13 reached out of each of the GOP candidates for their message to voters before polls Tuesday morning but did not hear back.
Polling data for the Democratic Primary race varies depending on the source.
According to data from SurveyUSA, Trudy Busch Valentine is slated to win this primary election with 40% of votes.
Their data has her 26 percentage points ahead of fellow candidate Lucas Kunce.
SurveyUSA polling data shows Kunce only has 14% of votes.
However, Emerson College data shows a much closer race between Kunce and Busch Valentine.
Emerson College data shows Busch Valentine only four percentage points ahead of Kunce, with Busch Valentine receiving 39% of votes and Kunce receiving 35% of votes.
Busch Valentine’s press team sent KRCG 13 a message with her statement to voters ahead of the polls opening:
“Trudy is focused on providing commonsense solutions to these issues and running a campaign that’s rooted in her values of honesty, integrity, and compassion. She’s running as a nurse, a mom, and a 4th generation Missourian who’s ready to get to work and deliver real results for Missouri.”
Kunce said his final message to voters is to remember he’s an average Missourian too.
“If you want someone who grew up like you, who understands the struggles Missourians go through, I’m your guy. I grew up in Jeff City on Douglas Street like right by Lincoln University there. Great neighborhood, working class neighborhood,” Kunce said.
Polls across Missouri will open Tuesday morning at 6 a.m. and will close at 7 p.m.
