Police search for suspect in Columbia armed home invasion

Police were unable to find a suspect after responding to an armed home invasion report Monday morning.

Officers arrived at the 3600 block of Hermitage Road at 7:24 a.m. for a report of a home invasion with a gun, Columbia police stated.

A release indicated a male suspect forced his way into a home while three occupants were inside. The suspect showed a firearm to one of the victims, searched the home and then ran off. Police said there were no reported injuries and it was unknown if any property was stolen. Officers and a K-9 unit were unable to find the suspect.

Police said the suspect was between 30 and 40 years old, weighing about 240 pounds and wearing several layers of dark-colored clothing.
