Parson to speak at summit for Missouri women in agriculture
JEFFERSON CITY —
Governor Mike Parson was scheduled to speak at the Farm, Family & ME! Summit for Women at the Missouri Farm Bureau Thursday.
The event was created to give Missouri women in agriculture the opportunity to hear from industry speakers and leaders.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, there are more than 950,000 women in agriculture across the country. As of 2017, there were more than 11,000 women in agriculture in the state of Missouri.
Topics of discussion were expected to include recruiting, training and retaining employees, estate planning, insurance, using financial statements in tough times, communicating in the family business, retirement, and dealing with stress.
Parson was expected to welcome guests to the summit at 12:45 p.m. Thursday. The two-day summit was scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
The summit was put on by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, MU Extension, and Missouri Farm Bureau.
