Missouri Governor Mike Parson will focus his special announcement Monday afternoon on the state's lack of a lieutenant governor.

According to the governor's press secretary Kelli Jones, Parson, the state's former lieutenant governor, will look to fill the vacancy; he was sworn in to governor's office June 1.

The announcement has been scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Governor's Formal Office, according to Jones.

Former Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon stated he believed the Office of the Governor had the authority to fill the vacancy by appointment.
