One dead, one injured in Sedalia shooting

    A Sunday shooting in Sedalia left one person dead and another injured. Sergeant Kelley Casto with the Sedalia Police Department told KRCG 13 they had a person in custody as of Sunday evening. Charges are still pending.

    Officers responded to the 1200 block of East 4th Street to a person who witnessed a shooting.

    The caller originally told police a person unknown to him came to his door and asked him to call 911, according to a Sedalia Police Department release.

    Officers met the witness and determined a shooting had occurred on the 300 block of North Summit.

    A victim was taken via car to Bothwell Regional Health Center and another victim via ambulance.

    The second victim, identified as 42-year-old Maurice Harper, was later pronounced dead, according to the release.

    The Sedalia Police Department Investigation Bureau is investigating the incident.

    Authorities ask anyone with information concerning the death of Harper is encouraged to call the SPD and speak with Detective John Fellows at 660-827-7823 Ext. 1217.
