NEW BLOOMFIELD — Firefighters said most of the city lost power Thursday after a falling tree took a power line with it.
New Bloomfield Fire Protection District Chief Travis Bell said the call came in around 5:12 p.m. He said most residents lost power, including himself and the fire district's main station on Glenwood Drive. He said the fallen power lines posed a hazard to crews pulling trucks out of the station.
The strain on the lines bent at least two utility poles near the fire station. Bell said if something similar happens near you, be patient and avoid the area until utility crews have a chance to make repairs.
Bell said he did not yet have an estimate how long the repairs in New Bloomfield would take.
