JEFFERSON CITY — House Republicans on Wednesday announced their choices to lead the 100th iteration of the Missouri General Assembly.
Springfield's Elijah Haahr has received his caucus' nod to become the next Speaker of the House. O'Fallon's John Wiemann has been tapped to serve as Speaker Pro Tem. Both positions require a vote by the entire House, which occurs on the first day of session, Jan. 3.
Arnold's Rob Vescovo will continue serving as Majority Floor Leader while Maysville's J. Eggleston will become Assistant Majority Floor Leader. Waynesville's Steve Lynch will return as Majority Whip. Sonya Anderson, of Springfield, will chair the majority caucus, and Annapolis' Chris Dinkins will become assistant caucus chair. Rounding out the team will be Republic's Jeff Messenger, who will chair policy development. Those positions do not require a floor vote.
Minority caucus spokesperson Marc Powers said House Democrats will choose their leadership team tomorrow.
