Mid-Missouri Heart Ball breaks fundraising record
Despite dicey weather conditions, organizers of the 27th annual Mid-Missouri Heart Ball said they broke a record Saturday night.
They estimated $260,000 was raised at the black tie event on behalf of the American Heart Association.
The goal of the Heart Ball was to bring the community together and support education and research and celebrate the mission of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
They raised money through silent and live auctions and ticket sales for the event.
About 700 people attended the event at the Capitol Plaza Hotel.
Last year, the event raised $250,000.
According to the event's Facebook page, funds raised through the event will fund life-saving research, advocacy and educational programs for cardiovascular disease and stroke.
