SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. — A man has died after an outdoor fire in Sunrise Beach on Sunday.
According to the Sunrise Beach Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to a natural cover fire just after 3:15 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found a 77-year-old man face down on the side of Bay Oak Lane. That man had received significant burns to his body and died due to his injuries.
Firefighters aren't sure if the man had a medical emergency and fell into the fire or if his clothes caught fire and he wasn't able to extinguish the flames.
Officials aren't releasing the name of the victim at this time.
"This is a very tragic incident and the members of the District offer our sincerer condolences to the victim's family," said Fire Chief Dennis Reilly.
