JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Jefferson City Police confirm a 19-year-old Sullivan woman has been killed in a motor vehicle collision Monday morning.
The accident happened about a 1/2 mile from the Clark Avenue exit, just before 7:30 a.m.
According to Sergeant Doug Reudiger of the JCPD, Madison Bartle, a student at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, was killed when she lost control of her car, causing it to spin in on Highway 50/63.
Bartle's car crossed the median from the westbound lanes, heading into the eastbound lanes, where it struck a minivan.
The driver and passenger of the minivan were two elderly people, an 82-year-old man and woman of the same age.
They were both taken to University Hospital, where they are listed in critical condition.
According to Jefferson City Police, Bartle was not wearing a seatbelt. It's unknown if the other two people had seatbelts on.
Traffic stalled in the eastbound lanes of Highway 50 for about three hours, but all lanes have now re-opened.
