Granny basketball ready for rematch against Missouri State Highway Patrol

The Central Missouri Grannies basketball team will be taking on the men and women of the Missouri State Highway Patrol to raise money for Child Care Aware of Missouri.

They played against each other in March 2017 for the first time where the Grannies beat the MSHP in a half-court basketball game based on 1923 rules.

Teammates Jan Carter and Joy Pearre appeared on KRCG 13 Live at Sunrise to talk about their team and fundraiser.

Carter and Pearre said they are grateful for the City of Columbia for their help to bring this event to mid-Missouri and the Missouri State Highway Patrol for being such great sports.

All the proceeds will go to Child Care Aware of Missouri, an organization focused on providing children with quality early childhood education. They also help families on choosing childcare and give referrals to other community resources.

The basketball game will be Saturday, November 18 at 2:30 p.m. It's at Smithton Middle School in Columbia. Tickets are $15. Children 7 and under are free.
