Prosecutors have accused a 17-year-old of four felonies in connection with a fatal shooting Friday evening.

Dekhise Dorsey, of Mexico, Missouri, was taken into custody Saturday with two 15-year-old suspects in the death of 27-year-old Tajuan Williams.

The Mexico Department of Public Safety stated Williams was found shot in the 500 block of Muldrow Street with a wound in the left side of his torso. After speaking with witnesses, officers learned the three suspects were at a nearby child's birthday party when they became involved in an altercation with Williams.

Dorsey later admitted to investigators he heard a single gunshot after Williams ran away following the physical fight. Dorsey said the person who fired the shot did not mean to shoot Williams and that all the suspects were scared.

Officers learned Williams died at the hospital. Dorsey and the juvenile suspects turned themselves in together at the department headquarters.

The juvenile suspects refused to be questioned.

Dorsey was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Feb. 5 at 10 a.m.
