Crews searching for missing person at Little Dixie Lake

Jerry Kinman

UPDATE: The Callaway County sheriff on Saturday said efforts to find a missing man will continue throughout the night.

Sheriff Clay Chism said personnel and equipment from other agencies, including a nationally certified search and rescue team, ended their search for the day around 5 p.m. after 12 hours of searching. Chism said his deputies and Missouri Department of Conservation agents will continue to patrol the area throughout the night.

Deputies said Jerry Kinman, 74, was last seen near the Little Dixie Lake Conservation Area around 7:30 p.m. Friday. Deputies said Kinman called his wife during the night to say he had fallen. There has been no contact since.

The search area is near Millersburg in western Callaway County, just over the border from Boone County. Deputies said Kinman's family owns property on the lake and he has been living there for the past few years.

The Boone County Fire Protection District said it sent a drone team to conduct aerial searches. That crew has since been called off for the day. Chism said searchers also employed boats, helicopters and dogs.

Chism said the search will resume on Sunday morning.
