Columbia man charged with June murder
A Columbia man was charged Thursday with the June murder of his girlfriend on Hatton Chapel Road.
According to court documents, investigators learned that 34-year-old Jason Anderson of Columbia had been involved in an armed confrontation with deputies in Christian County in Southwest Missouri. At that time, he was reported to be in possession of firearms reported stolen from a residence in the 6100 block of Hatton Chapel Road.
Upon searching the Boone County residence for firearms evidence, deputies discovered the deceased body of Anderson's girlfriend, whom he lived with. She had been shot to death.
A witness told investigators that he had been with the couple a few days previously, and that the two were constantly arguing, and that at one point, Anderson pointed a rifle at the victim.
But, the witness said the last time he saw the victim, she was alive.
Blood on the shoes Anderson was wearing in Christian County had blood on them and the blood tested positive for the victim.
Anderson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He is in custody in the Boone County Jail on $2,000,000 cash-only bond.
