One person was shot during a home invasion in Columbia Tuesday.

The incident happened at 10:00 p.m. within the 3900 block of Mint Julep Drive.

Columbia police said a male victim was entering a home when two suspects approached him and forced their way inside the residence occupied by a woman and two juveniles.

Investigators confirmed the suspects had at least one firearm and demanded money before shooting. A male victim was taken to a local hospital for multiple gunshot wounds and the other occupants were not injured.

The suspects fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money and property. Columbia police said the investigation is ongoing.
