The Boone Hospital Center Board of Trustees considered several options Wednesday after announcing it was ending a management agreement with BJC Health Care in 2020.

Hospital trustees said they were one step closer to a decision on their future management after holding a brief meeting with their investment banker. Officials have the option of joining another health care system or managing the hospital on their own.

The trustees have considered three outside management proposals from MU Health Care in Columbia, Duke/Lifepoint Health Care in Tennessee and St. Luke’s Health Care System in Kansas City.

Hospital officials recently have met once a week to keep up with the growing amount of information involving their options.

“We just want to stay on top of everything," Board of Trustees Chair Brian Neuner said. "If we go four weeks without getting together, everything compounds and we have really, long meetings. This allows us to stay current with the information that is coming in from the investment banker.”

Neuner said the trustees planned to get public input before making any final decisions on the future management of the hospital.

He said trustees planned to make a final decision within the next six months.
