COLUMBIA — The Boone County Fire Protection District responded to a large barn fire Sunday evening that killed several animals.
A department spokesperson said crews arrived at a farm on Zaring Road in eastern Boone County before 5 p.m. and found one barn fully engulfed in fire.
Crews worked for about two hours to put out the flames. One cow and two calves died, and the department declared the building a total loss.
No other injuries were reported. The spokesperson said no other damage was reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
