Benton County deputy "going to be OK" after sustaining gunshot wound during drill
JEFFERSON CITY —
The Benton County Sheriff's Office stated a deputy will recover after he was wounded in a shooting drill Monday afternoon.
Maj. Jeff Canfield sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his lower torso during night-range qualification about 5:25 p.m. He was taken to University Hospital via helicopter.
Later Monday evening, the Benton County Sheriff's Office said Canfield was going to be OK, and that the bullet had traveled in and out, hitting no vital organs.
