Stephanie Hirata has dreamed of becoming a broadcast journalist since she was eight years old. She began immersing herself in the world of storytelling at a young age and got a taste of the profession starting with anchoring for her local high school television show.
In Stephanie's first year of college, she interned and was a host for College Beat Productions on campus. She then went on to intern for NBC at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, assisting the swimming event's production team. Her third internship in 2013 was with an online website called the "The Active Times" in New York, where she was a video reporter. During Stephanie's last year of college, she was an assistant video director for Daily 49er TV covering campus news. Her last internship in June 2014 was at CNN's New Day morning show in New York, where she was then hired as a freelance production assistant and guest greeter.
Shortly after, she made the decision to move to Grand Forks, North Dakota in November 2014 to work as a general assignment reporter for the ABC affiliate station WDAZ-TV.
In May 2015, she joined the KRCG 13 news team and was named weekend anchor and weekday reporter. It is her honor to serve mid-Missouri. She is looking forward to covering a wide variety of stories while getting to know the surrounding communities.
Stephanie's passions are investigating and storytelling. She loves traveling, photography, staying active and trying new things.
