A Midwest gal born and raised, Katie Moeller couldn’t be happier to have the chance to live and work in mid-Missouri as the co-anchor of KRCG 13 Live at Sunrise. In addition to co-anchoring with Dick Preston in the mornings, Katie reports on political and investigative stories.
After Katie graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in 2015, she began working toward a Master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at MU. She is continuing research on her thesis about political fact verification, “Fact Checking Journalism at the State and Local Level: An Examination of Audience Effects and Perception.”
Katie grew up in St. Louis but she loved mid-Missouri long before she attended MU or worked at KRCG. She’s competed in horse shows at the Boone County Fairgrounds and Midway since she was nine years old, and her first horse, Callaway’s Prince Harrod, was born and raised at Callaway Hills – right next door to KRCG 13! You can find Katie on any given Saturday at High Spirits Farm in Ashland, where her two American Saddlebred horses, Winnie and Tigger, are in training.
If Katie’s not in the newsroom or out with her horses, she loves listening to almost any music from the 60s or 70s, going on long runs with her younger sister Caroline, and watching her younger brother John play hockey when she gets the chance. All of the Moeller siblings are born on the 13th of different months – which, for Katie, is just another sign that she’s lucky to be a part of the family at KRCG 13 and “do the news” in Mid-Missouri.
