Another Mid-Missouri high school football standout will play college football outside the Show-Me State.
Rock Bridge wide receiver Alex Ofodile, considered the No. 1 prospect in Missouri by several recruiting services, announced that he has verbally committed to Oregon.
"Officially an Oregon Duck!!" Ofodile said on his twitter page Tuesday afternoon. "It's a blessing words can't describe my excitement to join the program. Thanks to all who supported me."
Ofodile helped Rock Bridge reach the Show-Me Bowl last fall. He set a Rock Bridge record with 92 catches in 2013. He finished the year with 1,293 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.
ESPN ranks Ofodile as the 42nd-best player in the Class of 2015. Scout puts him at No. 85 in the country, while 247Sports and Rivals rank him just outside the top 100.
Ofodile picked up offers from nearly 30 schools, including Missouri, Alabama, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Wisconsin, among others.
Ofodile is the second local football standout to commit to a Division 1 school in the past month. Helias star Hale Hentges committed to Alabama in late May.
