SCHOLAR ATHLETE CONTEST RULES

Contest: KRCG 13 Athlete of the Week

Station: Sinclair Communications, LLC dba KRCG

Station Address: KRCG, 10188 Old Highway 54 North, New Bloomfield, MO 65063

Contest Area: Missouri Counties: Chariton, Randolph, Audrain, Montgomery, Howard, Boone, Callaway, Cooper, Moniteau, Cole, Osage, Morgan, Miller and Maries.

Participating High Schools: All high schools (private/public) within the DMA counties.

Age of Eligibility:

Entrants: Must be the athletic director, head coach and/or principal of a Participating High School

Nominees: Must reside within the Contest Area, be currently enrolled as a Senior at a Participating High School during the Contest Period and be an active member in one (1) or more of the Participating High School’s athletic programs or teams (i.e., football, soccer, cheerleading, etc.) and carry a grade point average of at least 3.0. Each high school can only nominate two (2) scholar athletes.

Contest Period: September 5, 2017 to May 17, 2018

Entries Due: 5:00 PM on September 5, 12, 19, 26, 2017; October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, 2017; November 7, 14, 28, 2017; December 5, 12, 19, 2017; January 9, 16, 23, 30, 2018; February 6, 13, 20, 27, 2018; March 6, 13, 20, 27, 2018; April 3, 10, 17, 24, 2018; and May 1, 8, 15, 2018.

Entry is limited to two (2) Scholar Athlete nominations per Participating High School.

Judging Criteria: Athletic Achievement (50%); and Scholastic Achievement (50%)

Total Number of Winners for the Contest Period: Thirty-Four (34)

Winner Determination Date(s): September 6, 13, 20, 27, 2017; October 4, 11, 18, 25, 2017; November 1, 8, 15, 29, 2017; December 6, 13, 20, 2017; January 10, 17, 24, 31, 2018; February 7, 14, 21, 28, 2018; March 7, 14, 21, 28, 2018; April 4, 11, 18, 25, 2018; and May 2, 9, 16, 2018.

Prize(s) and Value(s): A Segment featuring the Scholar Athlete on the 6:00 PM Sports on September 7, 14, 21, 28, 2017; October 5, 12, 19, 26, 2017; November 2, 9, 16, 30, 2017; December 7,14, 21, 2017; January 11, 18, 25, 2018; February 1, 8, 15, 22, 2018; March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2018; April 5, 12, 19, 26, 2018; and May 3, 10, 17, 2018.

All capitalized terms shall have the meanings set forth above.

Who Can Enter

1. To be eligible to participate in the Contest, Entrant must be an athletic director, head coach and/or principal of a Participating High School. By entering, entrants agree that the nominee, not the entrant, is eligible to win the prize.

2. Nominees must reside within the Contest Area, be currently enrolled as a Senior at a Participating High School during the Contest Period and be an active member in one or more of the Participating High School’s athletic programs or teams (i.e., football, soccer, cheerleading, etc.). Parents/legal guardians of Scholar Athlete Nominee must not work at Nominee’s Participating High School. Nominees will be disqualified if their parent/legal guardian works at the school that they attend.

3. Employees of Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., Sinclair Television Group, Inc., and the Station (collectively, the “Company”), Sponsors, Prize Providers, contest software providers, social media platforms, their affiliated companies, advertising and promotion agencies, any and all local television broadcast and cable stations, local radio and other media companies, and the immediate family members of each are ineligible. The term “immediate family” includes spouses, domestic partners, grandparents, parents, siblings, children, grandchildren, and any other relatives who reside in the same household with employee.

How to Enter

Entrants from each of the Participating High Schools will nominate up to two (2) high school Senior athletes (either male or female) to be the Scholar Athlete of the Week for the Participating High School.
