Jefferson City Jays baseball coach Brian Ash has been named the 2017 ABCA/Diamond National High School Divison 1 Coach of the Year.

Ash guided the Jays to a 31-2 record and the Class 5 state championship. JC ended the season on a 21-game winning streak, culminating with a 2-1 win over Fort Zumwalt West in the Class 5 title game.

The Jays set a new school record for wins in a season and brought home the program's first state championship since 1989.

Ash, along with the rest of the national high school and college coaches of the year, will be honored at a banquet on January 5, 2018 in Indianapolis.
