Update: Monday, Feb. 6 at 2:45 p.m.:
Prosecutors have charged a boyfriend and girlfriend with breaking into a Radio Shack in Jefferson City Sunday night.
Sarah Record and Thomas Lewis each face one charge of 1st degree armed criminal robbery. Each is being held on a $5,000 bond.
After the armed robbery occurred, a Cole County deputy saw Lewis enter his house at 1000 Buena Vista. The officer followed and questioned him. While at the residence, Lewis showed the deputy the PS3 he was carrying when the deputy saw him enter the house. Record then showed up while the officer was there and identified herself as Lewis?? girlfriend.
After getting a search warrant for the residence, the deputy found stolen money, the stolen PS3, and clothing worn during the robbery.
The store clerk at Radio Shack identified Lewis as the robber.
According to court documents, the couple confessed to the crime.
A 25-year-old Jefferson City man and is 26-year-old girlfriend are awaiting charges after an armed robbery at the radio shack on Missouri Boulevard.
It happened just before 5:00 Sunday night.
Witnesses told officers a white male with a thin build in his early to mid-twenties took an unknown amount of cash and a PS3 from the store and left on foot.
They said the suspect was wearing a black jacket, black zip up hoodie, khaki jeans, and muddy blue tennis shoes.
Officers said during the robbery, the man displayed a knife and threatened a white female customer with it.
Later, a Cole County Deputy saw the man run out of the woods in the 1600 block of Edmonds St. and go into a home in the 1000 block of Buena Vista.
Officers then took the man into custody and during a search of the home found the stolen merchandise.
During the investigation officers learned the female who was threatened during the robbery was actually the man??s girlfriend and was in on it.
Both are being held in the Cole County Jail pending charges of 1st degree robbery and armed criminal action.
