Five Cardinals headed to All-Star Game

The St. Louis Cardinals will send five players to the All-Star Game in New York on July 16.

Catcher Yadier Molina and outfielder Carlos Beltran were both elected to start for the National League. Molina led all NL vote-getters with more than 6.8 million votes, beating out San Francisco's Buster Posey. This will be Molina's fifth All-Star Game.

Beltran will make his eighth All-Star appearance. He received more votes than any NL outfielder.

Adam Wainwright was selected to his second All-Star team, but will not pitch in the game. He is scheduled to start against the Cubs on the Sunday night before the All-Star Game.

Matt Carpenter and Allen Craig were also selected as reserves. Both are first-time All-Star picks.
