Schweizer wins SEC cross country crown
ATHENS, Georgia -- Missouri senior Karissa Schweizer won her second straight SEC championship on Friday. Schweizer finished the race with a time of 19:36.3, beating the runner-up by more than 30 seconds.
Schweizer is the first runner in MU history to win two straight conference titles in cross country.
“It means so much to me to win this second SEC title,” Schweizer said. “To get out on the course and represent my team, Mizzou and the SEC is something I am proud of. Georgia provided a great atmosphere, a great course and great weather. It was a great day.”
The Tiger women finished 4th as a team, while the men finished 7th.
Missouri will compete in the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 10 in Ames, Iowa.
