Missouri settles for NIT bid

COLUMBIA -- Left out of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008, the Missouri Tigers will instead take part in the NIT.

The Tigers received a No. 2 seed in the 32-team NIT field, and will open play Tuesday night against Davidson. The game will tip off at 8:00 at Mizzou Arena.

Missouri's run of five straight NCAA Tournament appearances ended after the Tigers finished the regular season with a 22-11 record, including a 9-9 mark in SEC play.

This will be Missouri's eighth appearance in the NIT. The Tigers are just 1-7 in the tournament all-time, with the only win coming against Murray State in 1996.

Missouri's last NIT appearance came in 2005, when the Tigers lost a first-round game to DePaul.
