LU football looks to make local splash

With less than a week to go until signing day, Lincoln football has received verbal commitments from several local recruits.

Blair Oaks standout Cody Alexander has given a verbal commitment to LU. Alexander was a two-time All-State player who will likely play in Lincoln's secondary.

Zach Stiles and Jake Burnett, teammates at Helias, will also play for Lincoln next fall. Burnett announced his decision to attend Lincoln on Thursday.

Rock Bridge running back Kian Pilot also announced his intention to play for Lincoln on Twitter. Pilot picked up more than six yards per carry in 2016, scoring 11 touchdowns.

Other local players expected to sign with Lincoln include Jefferson City defensive back Isaac Moreland, Battle teammates Xavier Johnson and Brennen DeMarco, Moberly tight end Calvin Davis and Hermann offensive lineman Justin Vance.

Players can officially sign letters of intent next Wednesday.
