For the 11th time in program history, the Lincoln women's track and field team will bring home a national championship.
The Blue Tigers won the NCAA Division 2 Outdoor Track and Field title in Allendale, Michigan on Saturday night, their first national title since 2009. Lincoln finished the meet with 64 points, beating runner-up Johnson C. Smith by five points.
Lincoln sealed the victory by winning the 4x400m relay, the final event of the day. The Blue Tigers also took first in the 4x100m relay.
Several Blue Tigers also earned individual All-American honors. Yanique Ellington finished third in the 100m and fourth in the 200m. Janae Johnson took second in the 200m and fifth in the 100m. Tamara Keane placed fourth in the 400m hurdles and seventh in the 400m dash. Other All-American honors went to Donna-Lee Hylton (eighth in the 400m), Jhevere Hall (sixth in the 800m), Monique Thompson (fourth in the 800m) and Ladonna Richards (fourth in the 100m hurdles).
The Lincoln women have now won seven outdoor national championships, along with four indoor national championships.
The Blue Tiger men earned a top-ten finish as a team, tying for ninth place.
