Animal rescuer: Don't hop to buy bunnies this Easter

Bunnies are popular gifts during Easter time but many do not consider the cost or responsibility that comes with owning the furry critters.

Emily Unterschutz, founder of Columbia Small Animal Rescue appeared on KRCG 13 Live at Sunrise with her two bunnies Theo and Eve to talk about thinking twice before spontaneously buying bunnies.

She said they are cute and cuddly when they are babies but can grow quickly.

Unterschutz has seen many owners give up their bunnies for adoption a few months following Easter.

Although she advises against buying bunnies just to go along with the Easter theme, she advises anyone who is serious about getting one to adopt rather than shop at a pet store.

Unterschutz said her organization has several bunnies available. For more information, click here.
