Update: Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 10:10 p.m.
It has now been 24 hours since a tragic accident happened just miles the KRCG-TV station.
A woman was hit and killed on Highway 54 at the AA/OO overpass in Holts Summit.
Police have few possible answers about how 34-year old Janelle Green came to be on the highway.
Friends want to know what Janelle Green was doing before she apparently fell onto the highway from AA/OO overpass.
"I truly do believe she was hit up on the over pass and knocked over. Something took place up there, because she would never cause herself to go over it," Janelle TMs Friend Vivian Brown said.
She was declared dead at the scene after being hit by several vehicles, but only one witness stopped to call police.
"We haven't even confirmed that she was on the overpass. There are some indications that are leading that way, so we're still working on it to try to get all the facts straight, Holts Summit Police Dept. Bryan Reid said. There were some witness reports of a tractor trailer. I did have one vehicle still at the scene, which was in a car and then also possibly a pick up truck."
Police are still investigating what took place on the overpass. They said that there could be three possibilities: she slipped and fell off the overpass, she was hit and fell off it, or she jumped. Janelle TMs friends and family said that she would never commit suicide.
"She had an 18-year old son, a 16-year old son, and a 3-year old daughter that she loved more than anything in the world. She would never do anything to take herself out of their lives," Brown said.
Brown said that Janelle was a friendly loving person who would do anything for anyone.
Police said the case isn't closed, while they continue to gather evidence and look for more witnesses.
Anyone with information about what happened last night is urged to call the Holts Summit Police Dept. at (573) 896-4678.
