Demolition crews are making progress at the University Village Apartments in Columbia, where a firefighter died in February.
The demolition was scheduled to start on Monday, but was delayed until Wednesday.
University of Missouri spokesman Christian Basi told KRCG that Marschel Wrecking of Fenton won the contract to tear down 11 of the 14 buildings in the 57-year-old complex.
Columbia Fireman Bruce Britt died while trying to rescue residents trapped by a walkway collapse at one of the buildings.
Basi said crews have a deadline of November 1 to finish the demolition.
